This thing was believed from very long that a person’s own personality affects one’s thinking and mind, now researchers have also assured this thing from their research. According to new research by a Wake Forest University psychology professor, how positively you see others is linked to how happy and kind hearted you are.
While discussing about this study, Dustin Wood, assistant professor of psychology at Wake Forest and lead author said that “Your perceptions of others reveal so much about your own personality”.
During the research the researchers asked the participants to rate positive and negative characteristics of three people and from that they were able to judge about the personality of the raters and according to Woods “Seeing others positively reveals our own positive traits”.
The researchers also noted that the positive feelings for others show that how an individual is actually satisfied with his/her life. Woods further said “A huge suite of negative personality traits are associated with viewing others negatively”. In this study wood actually took some groups friends who rated each other, some others were college freshmen rating others they knew in their dormitories, and fraternity and sorority members rating others in their organization.
Wood evaluated the raters and the way in which they evaluated their peers and finally got this conclusion that it’s your own personality and personal development atmosphere that imacts on your perception regarding other people.
